Pensacola

This is just a note to say that we're in Pensacola and having a great time. Internet has been hard to find, so we haven't been able to post until now. I'll try to download some pictures and post them soon.

More Ice Cream Fight Pictures

I got these photos from someone else (Elizabeth?), and I thought I'd share them:

Chowing down at the gutter. Playing with squirt guns with Lawrence.

The ice cream party quickly devolved into an ice cream fight.
Classic.
Doug got ambushed.
Slip'n sliding.....
The whipped cream was used as a weapon....
The trip chaperones might as well have been wearing targets.
....and even fathers weren't safe.
It was a pretty big mess.
Cake.
We were greasy even after two showers.

Tomorrow we're off to Florida, with a swamp tour along the way. Not sure about internet access there, but we'll try to post some pictures!

Carnival

New Orleans is known for its carnival spirit, and in the last 24 hours we've definitely indulged. Here are some of the goings-on of the last day:

Last night instead of vespers, the adults surprised the youth with a giant ice cream sundae (made in a 5-foot gutter, in honor of our construction work). We also had lots of games--a slip'n slide, badminton, volleyball, and lots of other stuff.
As things happen, though, it devolved. Before long we ended up in an epic ice cream/cake/water fight. The results largely went un-photographed, since it was dark, but this will give you an idea.
Slipp'n and slid'n.

Tonight, we took the whole crew down to the French Quarter (our afternoon trip got rained out).

We started out at Cafe du Monde, where we showed our strength....

....posed for peace....

....just posed....

....did some shopping........walked by the Mississippi river....

....and in the end, circled up to sing a few verses of "As I Went Down To The River To Pray" before calling it a night.
